NOVELLA PARIGINI (1921-1993)
When Giorgio Quintini lived in Rome in the 1950s his social life centred on Piazza di Spagna and Via Veneto. Having decided to become an artist, for a while he shared much of his life with Giò Stajano and Novella Parigini. While the two male members of this group did other things in their lives, Novella stayed true to her unique calling and continued to paint and successfully sell pastel pictures of doe-eyed girls and cats for the rest of her life. Giorgio always spoke highly of her. She appears on p. 213 of his roman-à-clef, "I malnati" (1960), as "Arabella". Here are two photographs from that period.
