ARLECCHINO RESTAURANT IN MOSCOW (1989)
For some time Giorgio had been collaborating with two old friends, Luciano Luciani and Franco Bertino, in one of their commercial ventures, the Fantasie di Trastevere café-chantant. He had designed costumes for the folklore song and dance acts. They decided to open the first Italian restaurant in Moscow, called the Arlecchino, and comissioned Giorgio to produce decorative panels for the place. Four of them were reproduced as artists' prints to be presented at the opening and they are here below.
In May 1989 the restaurant was opened by the cooking actor Ugo Tognazzi, who went with his wife Franca Bettoja. Giorgio soon became a friend and was invited to eat at their place by the sea in Italy. Here is a photograph of the three of them in Moscow when they visited the GUM department store.
Four of the large decorative panels for the restaurant were reproduced in a folder and this brief biography was printed inside.
