ARTIST - Later Works (1989)

ABSTRACT DRAWINGS - 1989

One evening in 1989 Giorgio came to dinner, which was a regular occurrence when he lived in Rome, and as a gift he brought with him a folder of six drawings which he had recently made. They show that in spite of his interest in figurative art as a decorator and fashion designer, he was still concentrating on the world of abstract art which he had embraced at an early age.  His early lampshades with their Wols influence; his love for Mirò; the comments made in his 1957 Paris catalogue about his cold and crystalline works; the few paintings of his own which hung in his Via Giulia flat; all these are present in these refined doodles in black pen on white paper. They are simply reproduced here without comment. They show that Giorgio Quintini took his life as an artist seriously throughout his life.
